Why do we litter?

It’s not natural human behaviour to treat the planet like this.

We live under an economic system that requires the perpetual destruction of the planet for economic growth. It values personal greed over the common good. It encourages us to be selfish individualists; disconnected from our true selves, from each other, and from nature. Sociopathy is rewarded. Care for each other and the planet is not - in fact, it is the greatest threat to this system.

Obviously it is inevitable that people living in such a system will be disinclined to be socially or environmentally conscious. People will emulate the nature of the system.

If we had a sane system that didn’t require infinite growth on a finite planet, that put people and planet before corporate profit, that valued the collective good over the individual, we’d have a far more economically equal, informed, caring, socially and environmentally conscious populace. (And single use plastic would’ve been banned a long, long time ago!).
