Western 'civilization' has destroyed the earth. We need to learn from those who're yet to be 'civilized'.

What's 'civilized' about western civilization? We've almost destroyed the planet, with our system and its need for perpetual plunder and growth.

We need to learn from indigenous people around the world, who’ve so far managed to avoid western/capitalist colonization, and who still manage to live in harmony with nature.

Read here and here.

Also read this book.

And watch these two brilliant documentaries, about the indigenous Kogi people in Columbia, who've managed to survive despite European colonization. They invited a BBC film crew in, to document them for the first time, because they wanted to let us know that we non-indiginous colonizers - 'the younger brothers' - are destroying the earth.

Some quotes from them:

"Stop digging in the earth and stealing the gold... I don't know when the world will end, but their looting will destroy it. They've taken so much. They've taken the guardians, the sun, the stars; the world will go black... If no one was doing our work, the rain wouldn't fall from the sky. It would get hotter and hotter. The trees wouldn't grow and the crops wouldn't grow."

"The earth is weak and diseased. The animals die. The trees dry up, become ill. Many new illnesses will appear; there will be no cure or medicine for them, and the reason is that the younger brother is violating fundamental principles continually and totally; drilling, mining, extracting petrol, minerals; stripping away the world. This is destroying all order and damaging the world. BBC, tell the younger brother - open your eyes!".

“We had many things. Younger brother took it all. So now we sorrow. We are weak. We can see the earth is decaying. It is losing its strength because of your greed.”

"Younger brother must listen and stop causing damage, or nature herself will finish us off".
