Given that the world is going to shit, why is there not a major effort to localise our economies?
Increasing environmental catastrophes + an overly globalised economy = a recipe for disaster; food shortages... famines.
And, that localisation would also help to reverse that increase in environmental catastrophes! Diverse, regenerative, organic, local food production, for example, can revive ecosystems and biodiverty - the loss of which is at the root of the environmental crisis. We need to re-connect with the local in order to heal the global.
But the opposite is happening. Be it Covid or climate change, those in power seem to use crises to push us towards greater and greater centralization of power, and yet more globalization.
